103 - Twist and Shout
About this song
Written by Bert Russell and Phil Medley.
Arranged by Paul and Teresa Jennings.
Originally recorded by the Isley Brothers, covered by The Beatles.
This song has two written endings: a one measure "short ending" and a two measure "bigger ending". The band takes the bigger ending, skipping the shorter one.
Whenever there is an extended crescendo or build-up (specifically measures 1-5, 39-43, and 53 to the end), the band crouches down low at the start of it, and then progressively stands up as they get louder.
This song is often referred to as "Twist and Thrash" and several other variants.
