Lake Placid was the site of the ECAC Men's Ice Hockey Tournament from 1993 to 2002.
The famous White Sled was located outside of Lake Placid, and was the home of celebrations after RPI won the ECAC Tournament in 1995.
Lake Placid was the home to two Olympic Winter Games, in 1932 and 1980. The famous "Miracle on Ice" game between the United States and the Soviet Union was played on the ice of the (now) Herb Brooks Arena on February 22, 1980.
