It is believed that "100% Natural Noise" is taken from a late 80s NCAA rule change that is directly the result of [[Freakout 1987]] (8-3 win over [[Brown University|Brown]]). At that game, the gift given out was a three foot long plastic [[Freakout horn|horn]]. The crowd made so much noise with those horns that the opposing coach complained to the NCAA, which resulted in the so-called "RPI Rule". This rule prohibits artifical noisemakers from being brought into a game. Shortly afterward (presumably), the slogan "100% Natural Noise" came to be.</div>Trick trickster
