	I think the general consensus for these parts is that they're a remnant from when Hail was actually played at a march tempo. I'd imagine that those parts are pretty near impossible to play on the amount of crack we play Hail at now. That's not to say that the old parts shouldn't be scanned, for posterity's sake and in case we ever decide to play Hail at the real tempo. 		+	I'd agree with Chris here, the handwritten part appears to be quite a bit more difficult than the printed version which I learned. I've never tried to play the handwritten part through a combination of having memorized the part I was handed and waving the flag, but I seem to recall that this year's freshmen have mentioned that they've taken to playing the simplified part as well. 	I'm sure that the flute and clarinet players have noticed that they are not reading handwritten parts for Hail. These parts were rewritten at some point (along with scores for Hail and the Alma Mater), and that's what we've been using. When I make copies, I'll scan both parts in. Personally, I like the older parts better, but I'm sure they'd disagree - they're considerably notier. I'm going to write them up real quick in sibelius, just so I can listen to them.
