This cheer is a riff from "Chameleon", written and recorded by Herbie Hancock in 1973. Maynard Ferguson recorded a notable cover of this song in 1974.
Instrumentation requirements
The cheer is comprised of two parts:
Part I (Melody):
- Flute
- Clarinet
- Alto sax
- Trumpet
- Mellophone
Part II (Bass line):
- Tenor sax
- Bari sax
- Trombone/baritone
- Sousaphone
As long as there are enough people playing each part, the cheer will sound fine.
History
