This cheer is usually done at the beginning of each period at hockey games, right after the puck drops. During the first and third periods, Dr. Who is played as close to the puck drop as possible, and is then followed by this cheer after the puck drop. Go Go Go You Red Red Red is also done during both hockey and football games as a way of starting the Let's Go Red cheer.

During the 2023 hockey season many members of the band began to wave and say "hi" to Ed Ruppar and Edward Piontek. This tradition became more extreme when a third Edward "Eddie" joined the band in the 2025-26 season.
