Penalty Cheer

As a penalty to the opposing team is being announced the following cheer is done:

PA annoucer: [School] penalty to number [##], [player name].
Band/Students: SUCKS!
PA: He receives two minutes for…
Band/Students: SUCKING! (should be shouted over the actual penalty)

A bit of history – this one was invented around the turn of the century by a rather inebriated Lambda Chi brother in Section 22 and caught on quickly. During the 2001 playoffs, while the Engineers were dismantling Princeton, the scoreboard operator actually put up on the board “Princeton Penalty – Two Minutes for Sucking.”

Though this cheer is attempted at away games, the pace at which the penalties are announced by other announcers is rarely amenable to this cheer.
