Natural Noise (band slogan)

"100% Natural Noise" is a slogan of the band, which refers to the fact that the band is not amplified while playing at games. It is believed that "100% Natural Noise" is taken from a late 80s NCAA rule change that is directly the result of Freakout 1987 (8-3 win over Brown). At that game, the gift given out was a three foot long plastic horn. The crowd made so much noise with those horns that the opposing coach complained to the NCAA, which resulted in the so-called "RPI Rule". This rule prohibits artifical noisemakers from being brought into a game. Shortly afterward (presumably), the slogan "100% Natural Noise" came to be.
