Freakout 2024 was a very close matchup of RPI vs Colgate University. Going through the first and second periods, it was a nailbiting game, with RPI always at one or two point from a tied score. At the end of the third period, Colgate was up one point and it was not looking good for the Engineers. Yet with only 2:10 remaining on the clock, freshman Tyler Hotson tied the score to 5-5, sending the field house into a frenzy. Without any goals in overtime, the game went to shootouts. After after an early advantage of 1-0, RPI could not reciprocate Colgate's next two scores, resulting in deafeningly silent field house after what could have been an amazing comeback.
