These are the band traditions involving the conductor.

Buying new songs

The conductor has the responsibility and privilege to select a few new songs for the band each year with part of the band's budget money.

Items passed from conductor to conductor

There are a few items in the band that are passed down from one season's conductor to the next. These items include:

Selecting guest conductors

The conductor traditionally offers former conductors the chance to "guest conduct" the band for the song of their choosing on certain big game nights, such as Freakout and Pep Band Alumni Night (PBAN). During the biggest games it is not uncommon for there to be a different conductor for each song during the period breaks.

Senior Night

On Senior Night the conductor traditionally takes requests from the graduating members of the band for songs to play during the period breaks. This is so they have a chance to play their favorite songs one last time as a member of the band.

Toll Booth Song line

A line is added to the Toll Booth Song each semester by the upperclassmen of the band to commemorate that semester's executive conductor. This usually happens on the last road trip of the semester.
