With women's hockey moving up from Division III to D-I in the 2005-2006 season (and the band's obligations growing thusly), the strain on the conductor grew both physically and temporally. In order to relieve this stress, the position of assistant conductor was created. Each year the newly elected conductor appoints up to three assistant conductors. These "asst." conductors fill in at events that the conductor cannot attend, or in situations where the band is split on a given day.
