With women's hockey becoming D-I in the 2005-2006 season, the strain on a conductor, both physically and temporally. In order to relieve this stress, the position of assistant conductor was created. Each year, the newly elected conductor appoints up to three assistant conductors, who can fill in at events when the conductor cannot.
