Hard Hat

As our hockey and football teams are called the Engineers, many members of the band have taken to wearing hard hats (usually red ones, but sometimes white) at games. After a goal is scored, it is traditional that anyone wearing a hard hat will tap it against anyone else's hard hat following the chanting of "We Want More" while those without hats simply high five each other.

The wearing of hard hats (commong during the 1980's) was repopularized by Tom Reale around 2002 when he acquired his and slapped a bullet on it. In addition to being a bold fashion statement, Tom's hard hat was frequently used as a percusion instrument for El Cumbanchero, always while still on his head.
