Monty Python: THG
About this cheer
This cheer is an excerpt from "Homeward Bound" written by Jack Trombey. It is better known as the main theme from the 1975 movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This version was arranged by ???.
Instrumentation requirements
Saxes and mellophones have the melody in the first four measures of the cheer, so it's important to have at least a couple of them.
History
Until about 2005 two members of the percussion section would gallop around the stage whenever this cheer was played, one with coconuts in hand (in a reenactment of the scene from the movie). This was absent for the next few years due to the unusually small percussion section and the loss of the original coconuts. Around 2008, Jeff Jones and Scott Tritten brought this tradition back and took it a step further by going all the way around the Field House whenever Monty Python is played.
This cheer was traded with the Colgate Pep Band for copies of Magnum P.I. in the 2002-2003 season.
This cheer was added to the cheer sheets during the rewrite in January 2007. It was previously distributed as its own page.
